Getting to spend such quality time with family meant the
world to us. It was such a great week with family as we zipped around the
island of Maui hitting up all the best beaches, driving the road to Hana, and
being at the top of Haleakala crater. It was so fun to travel with Marcus’
sister and her husband and their girls. Harper absolutely ADORES them and it’s
easy to see why! They make everything more fun with their endless giggles and
comments. The entire trip we heard “Is this good tanning weather?” “I only had
one!” and “This was the BEST meal…” only about 100 times-per person, ha! Harper
loved chasing the birds on the beach and hiking around on Marcus’ back. She was such a daddy’s girl the entire time,
and she loved sitting in the hiking backpack eating mangoes through the bamboo
forest, thanks to “Chad!” We ate lots of shaved ice, coconut shrimp, and couldn’t
get enough of the white chocolate chip macadamia nut pancakes at The Gazebo. We’re still dreaming about them!

BUMPDATE: 20 WEEKS
How Far Along?
20 weeks
Weight Gain:
I still can’t keep anything down! So I haven’t been tracking.
Maternity Clothes?
I went through and pulled out the belly band. I have one pair of jeans that still fit and zero of anything else. I've lived in my swimsuit and coverups this week.
Sleep?
Some of the best sleep I’ve gotten since being pregnant.
Best moment this week?
Spending the week in Maui with Marcus, Harper, and family. I feel like I am treating myself for making it to the halfway mark. This pregnancy has been SO hard on me.
Weird pregnancy moment?
We went on a 4 mile hike to a waterfall on the road to Hana. At first I thought, no problem! But by the time we were coming down it was so hot, my feet were swollen, and I was feeling big and pregnant. Marcus carried Harper the whole way in a backpack luckily, and she has become such a daddy’s girl this week. I think she’s realizing she might have to share mommy soon!
Movement:
Yes! Around 18 weeks I started to feel little flutters. And now Marcus has even felt the baby a few times.
Food Cravings:
Cherries, Starbursts, Sour Patch Kids, and anything salty! You guys, I actually licked the remaining salt off my plate the other day. Gross.
Anything making you queasy?
Still so nauseous-All. The. Time. It’s worse in the mornings, but I’m wondering if it will ever go away this pregnancy? I’ll literally be eating the best meal (white chocolate chip macadamia nut pancakes with coconut syrup-hello!), and then have to stop suddenly or I’ll be sick.
Gender:
We had a 17 week ultrasound and our tech said she wouldn’t take a picture yet but it definitely looked like a girl. No boy parts from what she was seeing! We were both so surprised she would be able to tell so soon. We’ll be able to officially take home a picture at our anatomy scan next week.
What I'm looking forward to:
The anatomy scan next week! I love to have peeks at our little baby and to reconfirm gender. It makes going through all this sickness worth it!

SAGE RAT RACES & STRAWBERRY PICKIN
Marcus and Rachel have been training for the Sage Rat Run
Half Marathon for the past few months, waking up at all hours of the mornings
to get their miles in for the day. It was the perfect cloudy day in May and the
two took off as it started to rain. They ran all the way from Sunnyside to Prosser
in an 1 hr and 53 min! We cheered them on at the finish line and then helped
them eat all their post run treats. Because that’s what good fans do, right? Harper
was petrified to take a picture with the Sage Rat character but she was pretty
happy by the time we got to the strawberry patch.
Overall, we picked 46 lbs of
strawberries! And I think Harper consumed another 46 while we were there. Harper loved the petting zoo and we loved the fresh strawberry doughnuts. She
couldn’t get enough of the strawberries though, and by the end it looked like she had been in a blood
bath!
