Controversy?

Blog:
Part of Speech: n
Definition: an online diary; a personal chronological log of thoughts published on a Web page

Although I am not allowed to discuss it, I was approached the other day about something offensive I had previously written on OUR blog. It has since been removed, but of course what is the first thing I wanted to do after all of this controversy occurred...Blog about it! Unfortunately, that is what got me in trouble in the first place...

Because of this matter, I would first like to apologize to all of those corporate parties that took offense. I never meant to do any harm to your business, nor your corporation. However, I do believe that a blog is a way to express some of my (and my husbands, what am I saying? Mostly My!) inner most thoughts. Many of the things we/I write on here are personal, but we wish to share it with all of you because we think it is important to express one's opinions and feelings, rather than keep our mouths shut and wonder around aimlessly through life. But apparently you can get in trouble with that sort of thing! And apparently I have a much larger audience than I once thought! Who knew nationwide companies got on and read our blog, I think we're pretty cool. So to all of my dear friends, loved ones, and bloggers in the blogging world, watch out what you blog about, because you never know who might be reading...!

  1. This is a lesson every blogger learns at one point or another. It's amazing how far our words reach through the web.

For the record, I have never been offended and I love you and your sweetie of a blog.

    Have a lovely weekend Ash!

  2. So...my comment just got deleted. Wierd. That is so crazy! Have they never heard of freedom of speech? Who would have ever thought someone would read your blog and be offended. I love reading your posts, your ideas and opinions, and what you guys are up to!

  3. Oh my goodness Ashley. That is so weird. I can't imagine you offending anyone or anything. Sugar is sweet, but Ashley is sweeter.

I better be nicer talking about certain products. Well, maybe they better make it better. huh...

You rock and roll and I like you just the way you are. Don't let it get to you.

  4. Yeah, we should be able to say and do whatever we want on our own blog, but unfortunately people read them, and therefore we must think about some of the things we write. I too learned this the hard way.

Keep on writing and don't worry about it too much, or else all the fun is taken out of blogging. I love your blog!

  5. Hmmm... let me guess which post that was!

Guess what? All bloggers eventually learn this lesson, most of us the hard way! Keep the posts coming.

  6. It's ironic that this all happened around the 4th of July, the day we celebrate living in America, and our freedoms, including FREE SPEECH. Someone has a BIG problem and way too much time on their hands to lurk around people's (stranger's no less) blogs and take offense to what is written. I love your blog!

  8. I have never really thought of makin my blog private, but this little experience of yours may have just inspired me to do it. Telling those people at the corporate office to spend their time that they get paid their salaries for and actually do real work rather then reading your blog. I still love you even if they don't

  10. I missed out what you wrote about? You will have to do a mass email to fill us bloggers in?!!!
    You just keep on bloggin!

  11. I'm curious too, what did you write? I guess you'll have to send it in an email because they shouldn't be reading that! I agree with everyone else, you do have a very cute blog! Keep blogging!

  12. Wow. I dont think large companies are blog lurking, I think they have spiders or trolls (whatever they're called) that search on key words for their company/product and get pinged, then they review what was written online. And I *think* most threats they make to your blog, are smoke, but scare tactics are very effective. If you're writing an honest review of a product, your personal experience, there should be nothing for them to come after you for. Sorry this happened to you! It stinks.

  13. I have 2 words FIRST AMENDMENT! (OK, that was just the first two words, now I have a soap box to get on). Soo.... I agree that you have the right to say anything that you want on your blog. If someone is offended, you also have the right to remove their comment! I love blog land. So I say, keep on expressing (and don't delete anything)! It's your right to express whatever you want in your little corner of cyberspace! The people who don't like it, don't have to visit!

(By the way, the colors and design are perfect ~ they totally speak to me)

Have a great Day ~ Annette

  14. First, you are under no obligation to be "bullied" by a corporation. You are entitled to your opinions. Haven't you watched the news lately? Second, you only have to remove a comment if a COURT tells you have to. Unless you have slandered a company falsely, you can say whatever, whenever you want. Have a little backbone and stand up for your self for Heavens Sake! Geez!

We've become a Nation of wussies.

  15. I too have had to deal with this...but on a personal level, not a corporate level. That is so strange.
Don't let the haters get you down. i think your blog is sweet and so uplifting and fun.

Haters, don't mess with Ashley! She is a cutie.
