We were pretty anxious to get to Switzerland and when we got off the train in Zermatt, we were welcomed by a perfect view of the Matterhorn. We couldn’t believe we were seeing the real life Matterhorn in person! The town of Zermatt was so charming with overflowing baskets of flowers hanging from every windowsill. And it's a pedestrian only town, so the only cars are taxis that resemble golf carts. But they go whizzing by in every direction and we had to run out of the way more times than we could count. But the Toblerone chocolate and pretzels being sold everywhere didn't hurt!
Our first day their we walked around town and took a small trail behind town that led to the outskirts. It was so nice to have a few hours enjoying the view while our girls fell asleep in the stroller. We took so many pictures of the Matterhorn, the view never got old!
The next day we took the Gornergrat train up to the Matterhorn and the train ride was probably our favorite part. Watching as the scenery changed and passing by waterfalls, and then being dropped off at the top surrounded by the highest peaks in Europe was breathtaking. Everywhere we looked was just so picturesque! We were so lucky to have a few clear days in Zermatt because on our last day it was covered in clouds and we realized how fortunate we were to be able to see it for as many days as we did.
