We all agreed that Lauterbrunnen, Switzerland was one of the highlights of our trip. We absolutely loved our Airbnb, and we had the prettiest views to wake up to every morning. You could even see the paragliders and base jumpers jumping off the surrounding cliffs! In Lauterbrunnen we finally had the chance to try a rosti. It’s a Swedish dish that is similar to hash browns but they cover it with cheese and different toppings. To us it tasted like the ultimate comfort food and we couldn’t get enough!
We took a train ride and then gondola ride up to the coolest Swiss playground at Maanlichen. The Swiss know how to put a playground together for kids. Our girls had the best time playing! Surrounded by mountains and fields of green there were cows grazing in pastures everywhere. The cows all have bells around their necks and as we hiked along the trail, it created the most beautiful sound of bells in the distance. It was a sound I just wanted to bottle up and take with us. It was magical! Or maybe it was magical because both of our kids were asleep and we were able to enjoy the moment a little more-ha! The girls loved seeing the cows, and Harper fell in love with a big white cow we nicknamed, "Bessie." So much so she was convinced Bessie would fit in her suitcase to take home!
We also were able to go to Trummelbach Falls and it was kinda terrifying to see that much water rushing through. After walking up to Staubbach Falls we rode on a gondola up to Murren. We walked along the small town and then had lunch overlooking the mountain. The walk back down into town was a great ending to our time spent in Lauterbrunnen, but none of us wanted to leave!
