Well here we are in St. Louis! Marcus is working Pest Control for Orkin this summer and I am running the office for Daryl Kelly who is the manager out here. Besides misspelling St. Louis wrong a dozen times, living with only a microwave (no stove), and working 6 days a week 10 hours a day, things are going great! Marcus has done really well with sales, and I have been busy reading blogs and catching up on my favorite television shows. What a life! This summer we are going to be moving around the Midwest to a new city almost every week. So although moving our stuff will be a pain, we are looking forward to seeing this part of the country. Although, we have quickly determined that there's not a whole lot to see in between cities! St. Louis is beautiful. It is surprisingly VERY green, but there has also been a whole lot of rain. Right now we are currently on the Illinois side of St. Louis in O'Fallon but we are enjoying our time in Extended Stays and Motels...and yes, we know, crazy right? We have become "those people" who stay for weeks at a time in armpit motels...But what an adventure! This is the only time in our lives where we'll actually have the opportunity to just get up and go while living in new cities every week without worrying about anything. Or at least that's what we keep telling ourselves to make this seem bearable.
Marcus said the other day, "Remember when summers use to be fun?" and I thought back to those lazy days of summer out on the Columbia, staying up late at friends' houses, and looking forward to getting off work just in time to go on that special date with a certain someone. Man have things changed! However, there's nothing better than actually being able to go home at the end of the day "with" that special someone :) Now...Does anyone have any ideas on things to do here?

I loved the armpit motels. So my idea for you is to get lots of sanitizing products ;)
Sounds like a fun time really. What other time would you be able to do this. Make the most of it and keep us posted. Many miss seeing you around these parts. Times are changing.
Take care Ashley..
Yeah, I got nothing...
The hotels sound awesome, you and Marcus really know how to live it up!!
I'm so glad you guys updated us on how your summer is going. Yeah, we've definitely discovered that summers are never the same again when you have to "grow up." For us now, summer is just the same as any other time of year. We have very "fond" (or not so much) memories of an armpit motel in St. Louis when we drove back from Virginia. It was disgusting. Matt still can't believe he allowed me to stay there. Keep the updates coming!
Yeah, summer is just not quite the same when it is exactly the same, work 8-5 everyday...
Let me know what cities you are going to. You are in my mission area, or really close to it. I love mid western summers. You are in for hard raid and thunder and lightning storms.
Hey Ash, you guys should definitely take the tour through the arch. Also, try to find that sweet mall where the chocolate factory serenades the crowd and gives out free samples. You're pretty close to Nauvoo and Carthage, it's so awesome to visit those places. You should try to see the Nauvoo pageant while you're there. What else....? It would be fun to go to a pro sports game, baseball maybe? There is probably a theatre with shows, most big cities have them especially in the summer. Good luck with the summer. You're so lucky to be married to the Orkin Man.
Welcome to O'Fallon, I hope you guys enjoy your stay here. I'm not sure how long you guys will be staying in town for, but there are some really great events coming up in St. Louis. Check out www.celebratestlouis.org for some shows that will be coming to town this summer. Also this weekend is weekend is Rib America downtown stl, you can check it out on www.ribamerica.com. Hope this is helpful!!
Looking forward to seeing you guys again tomorrow. We enjoyed staying with you in the Armpit Hotel! Thanks for the hospitality. It really wasn't that bad. At least I didn't see any bugs!
Branson has been fun. So different than the Pacific N.W. This is an amazing country we live in. I love it! And the South is full of Bible loving, church going, patriotic people....no airs or pretenses. What you see is what you get! See you tomorrow.
Does Carolyn have a blog? And will rachel let me see hers?
Thank you everybody for all of your great ideas and words of encouragement! Sorry Michelle, unfortunately Carolyn does not have a blog (but they should definitely get one! As well as Jen and Cory) and as for the Haertling Clan, they finally made theirs public!
I think that I would constantly put my foot in my mouth if I blogged. I tend to get a little obnoxious when sharing my opinion about things.
I forgot that you should definitely go to Independence, Far West and Adam-ondi-Ahman. Cory and I did that on our way home from pest control one summer and loved it.
This is great info to know.
