WELCOME TO THE THIRTY CLUB
June 27, 2016
Turning 30 years old
seemed like a big milestone this year. So for my birthday what I really wanted
was to spend quality time with Harper and Marcus. Especially, since our family
would be changing so much this year with our new addition coming in October. I
had been wanting to take Harper to the zoo because she LOVES animals, so we
drove to Seattle for the weekend. Harper loved to see the lizards, lions, and
flamingos and it was so fun to watch her recognize different animals that she
had learned the sounds too. We even got to feed some of the birds which seemed
like a pretty magical moment at the time-until they started pecking Harper when
she got her hand too close! I was trying to so hard to keep still when I was
laughing so hard at the look of shock on her face! That night we had a great
dinner at Maggiano’s eating chocolate cake and pasta, and then stopping by Pike
Place market the next morning. I can never leave Seattle without a stop at
Pike’s Place to pick up a flower arrangement. They’re gorgeous, locally grown,
and so cheap! I always have to look at all of them before finding the “perfect”
bouquet. We couldn't get enough of trying all the samples and sniffing all the
flowers. We had a great time until we realized all of the streets were being
closed down because President Obama was driving into town. So we packed up our
stuff and headed out before it got too crazy.

MAUI, HAWAII (WEEK 2)
June 6, 2016
Macadamia Nut Pancakes. Beach. Pool. Dinner. Repeat. This
would probably be a good description of our second week in Maui. We moved
further up north of Maui and stayed at a resort with some
incredible pools. Harper loved the sandy beach play area, chasing the
birds, and the Maui sweet onion chips! She would bring the bag everywhere saying "Chip! Chip!" We found some calmer beaches where she could play in the sand and we
could sit back and enjoy the amazing scenery. We missed the Haertling crew so
much, but it was also nice to be able to spend a few days with just our
small family. Our last family vacation as a family of three (say what?)! We got
to try some great food, meet some Instagram celebrities, and chow down on lots
and lots of shaved ice. It was a relaxing week. Happy nine years to us.
