Run, Ashley, Run

"You have to wonder at times what you're doing out there. I've given myself a thousand reasons to quit running, but it always comes back to where it started. It comes down to self-satisfaction and a sense of achievement."

Okay, so I have been frequently asked, if I'm still running? For the record, I'm not a runner, in fact, I've never really enjoyed it. It's hard, kinda boring, and tiring but I have stuck to it AND I even enjoy it now! I anticipate and get little butterfiles about the next time I'm going to run and of course by the end of it, I'm dead tired, but it's getting better. I have finally worked up to 2.5 miles! I know it's not much, but this is coming from the girl that couldn't even run a mile; probably not even a half a mile! My sister in law Jen, pointed me to a great website, MapMyRun and you can figure out your mileage before you go. It's a great way to push yourself to just go a little farther each time.

Me and two of my girlfriends from back home are working towards a Marathon or half Marathon in May...whichever we end up feeling most comfortable with. So if any of you know of any good ones to race in this Spring, let me know! We've all been working really hard, and it's something I've always wanted to do.

So if your thinking about running, JUST DO IT, as Nike would say. One thing I've learned, running is a mental game! Oh and having a good partner (like Marcus) is definately beneficial too! But sorry ladies, he's not for sale!

Yeah, I'm like the "old" you. I have NEVER been a runner, even as a kid. I loved to sprint super fast, but long distance...I always felt like my chest was going to split open. But for those of you who love it...more power to you! I'll stick to my power walking!

I feel the same about running. I used to do cross country and hated it. I think I might pick it up again.

You are amazing! I hate running and deeply admire anyone who has the mental strength to do it. Is there anything you can't do?

I am so glad you have learned to love running and to even get excited about it...can I use you as my role model? I ran a few times in the summer and have been itching to do it again. It's less time consuming than going to the gym. Seriously Ashley...this post gave me a total "go out there and do it Amy" feeling. THANKS!

I'm smiling that you don't think 2.5 miles is a lot. If you ask me that's a heck of a long way to run. Good for you! Good luck.

You definitely need to run in the Ogden Marathon. It is in May and they have the half marathon and the full on the same day... and it is awesome! It is a pretty big marathon and they make you feel like a superstar when you finish! I did the half this year and am planning on doing either the half or full in the spring!! Good job... keep up the good work!

Yeah for running! Not! I am glad you are enjoying it though, good luck with the marathon! And I have to say I am pretty impressed that you are still running in the SNOW!! Way to go!

Ashley...I had no idea! Good job girl! My sisters and I are running a half-marathon the beginning of April. It's the Provo City Half Marathon. You should check that one out! I'm already so excited!
